I am one half of a multiracial marriage. We have a beautiful 20 month old daughter. I was disowned by my biological family, but accpeted with open arms by my husband's family. Not only am I a part of this colorful world of ours, I am also writing an essay on multiracial marriages. Since my studies of the Census 2000 Multiracial Category Issue, I think the NAACP are a bunch of hypocrites. They claim to want to help blacks grow and learn and be successful, but only if they identify themselves as ONLY black. It is actions like these that fuel the racial tensions, especially between whites and blacks. Until we can look past the skin and into the soul of our neighbors, nothing is going to change the racial divide that remains between individuals and societies.

I would like to know if there are any family studies on multiracial marriages. I am looking for other opinions (good, bad, or indifferent). I am particularly interested in teh social, emotional, economic, and possibly physical challenges that people in multiracial marriages have faced or still face today.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Susan Clark
